Kate does Debbie

Intriguing!

I don't think I will be buying any of the Kate stuff though. I've always loved her style [though it has been well-documented that the past few years of rock n roll uniformity have definitely been a drop in form] but I know I'm not alone in noticing that many of the pieces look stunning on Kate and distinctly average on the rest of us. People buying into the idea of looking like Kate will be disappointed unless they already have her hair, cheekbones, stats and general fashion nous. Much like the rest of the collection, that dress will look like A Dress, not The Dress, on most people.

My only Kate piece is a one bell-sleeved, black chiffon pussy-bow blouse from about 6 months ago. It never looks or hangs right, and has been worn once. Overall it's a nice idea and some of the clothes are pretty but several seasons of KM for Topshop have shown that trying to sell her style so bluntly just diminishes its magic, and doesn't produce anything really covetable.

For those still really keen in emulating her style, I think Topshop's other ranges inadvertently do a far better job. Particularly the Tux Delux range at the moment. I nearly cried when I tried on their beige snakeskin tux jacket. It fits exquisitely, but I cannot bring myself to buy it when I just spent £45 and innumerable visits to the tailor getting my old black second-hand men's tux altered to fit me perfectly.

Methinks - hair, makeup and lighting go a long way to create the look which doesn't translate on the shop floor.

I've only bought the long silver maxi skirt which is and has been a useful piece

i love that dress!

and i definitely agree with what you said. topshop's other ranges are more "kate moss" than her own line!

That's a great-looking dress, but I think you make a good point. The dress will only look that great on KM herself.

I'm really enjoying this hair moment she's having.

i have noticed that the kate moss stuff can lack quality too, and topshop gets quite lot of returns from it, especially the first few seasons she brought out . i like a few pieces but would never ever buy it becuase of her name tag .

That is so true. Everyone's so hyped up about her range and yet when I go to Topshop they look quite ordinary and boring. They just have to be on Kate. Unfortunately a lot of other fashion pieces sell like that... On a skinny and photogenic model, and we buy with the idea that it'll look like that on us...

Perhaps they would have more critical success with it if they restocked their vintage rails with Kate's actual old clothes. She can't be short of them. That pale yellow 50s-ish dress, the long see-through silver dress she wore with Johnny Depp, the old CK vests from the 90s ads... and she must have enough hotpants and slouchy boots to actually stock a whole department.

I don't think I'll be buying into it either, unless it's on sale.. like what I did last time.. with that flapper/fringed sequin dress that was £95-ish but I got it for £15.

Hi!
I just wanted to say thank you for linking to my blog...I hope that you enjoy reading it.
We don't have topshop where I live, but the whole deal where celebrities dressing clothing and then market it with the idea that you will look like them if you buy into there line is common, and also dumb.... I mean, it isn't like one item of clothing, or even a bunch of items of clothing, are going to change your general appearance unless you have a really amazing sense of style (and, in some cases, a makeover). It is sad that so many people bye into it.

Personally im not that into Kates new collection.
Its all quite un-wearable for people who arent Kate Moss.

I quite like that dress and the tiger dress, but I hate that they will inevitably become the ubiquitous Topshop dresses and no matter how good you look in it, people will think "oh that's the KM dress". But not in a good way.

Kate really did the 'tiger' dress justice... she made it look like this season Balmain..not that it will look that way on anyone.. but one can always dream. ;)

I only bought a leather jacket last season, it was so soft.. but it was given to a friend as she adores it and I barely used it.

For girls, women or whoever wants pink shoes, there are Air Jordan 1 Retro Hi Premium shoes. They can probably be worn on the basketball court, but might be a better fashion statement off the court.

Now go out and start practicing your basketball skills in some Jordan shoes. You'll at least look like you know what you're doing.
