In a fresh blow to masculinity, James Bond has become a woman. The announcement that Lashana Lynch will enter the fray in Bond 25 as the new 007 has the Twitterverse alight with indignation. It's the end of days! The death of culture! Even former Bond girl Trina Parks has weighed in on it. "Lashana is a great actress, but I don't really agree with her becoming 007... It's not about her colour - a black James Bond, sure. But as a man."

Time and the simulated world
I originally wrote this in April 2018 but never published it, instead sending it to a few friends and discussing it privately. I suspect that if I ever reach a stage in life where this topic doesn't make my mind boggle, I will have gone very wrong somewhere along the way.
I keep thinking about the popular theory that we are in a simulation – that video games, VR etc will take us to a point that is so indistinguishable from “real” reality that we won’t know we’re in it, and that actually we are already there – merely characters in some kind of computer simulation, rather than living a real physical existence.

Back on my bullshit
I last wrote in this blog a full six years ago. I've done other writing since, set up specific blogs for specific stuff before realising I'm not a very specific person. "Stick to a topic! Find your niche! Develop your angle!" Can I... not? In all that, I miss having a place to just root around whatever ideas occur to me in whatever sphere. So I might deposit the occasional bit of braining and opining and thinking-out-loud here. I can't promise regular content. I can promise there will be no Ed Sheeran.
